Message I would go with an I6 since their structure is inherently balanced. No need a counter-balance shaft (or two for some four cylinders). There's a pair of pistons for each of the three dimensions which keeps the engine from wanting to wobble while running. This is why V12's are such a good choice for a supercar. I'm baised though, I6's forever!
